D-FENDERS PICK UP JAMES WRIGHT, WAIVE LAWRENCE MCKENZIE

El Segundo, CA- The Los Angeles D-Fenders announced today that they have acquired 6-2 guard, James Wright. To make room on the roster for Wright, the team has waived Lawrence McKenzie due to injury.

Before joining the D-Fenders, Wright spent 20 games with the Albuquerque Thunderbirds this season, averaging 5.4 points per game with a 51.6% field goal percentage. He played the first half of the 2007-08 season as a starter for Barons/LMT Riga (Latvia-LBL), before playing with Porvoon Tarmo (Finland-Korisliiga), where he also started. In 2006, Wright played 38 games for Pyrinto Tampere (Finland-Korisliiga) where he averaged 20.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. Prior to his stint in Europe, Wright played 21 games with the Dakota Wizards (CBA) and five games with the Sioux Falls Skyforce (CBA), in the 2005-06 season.

Guard Lawrence McKenzie was acquired by the D-Fenders on December 16. He played in 10 games with the team, averaging 4.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
