D-FENDERS WIN FIRST OF SEVEN GAMES AT THE TOYOTA SPORTS CENTER

EL SEGUNDO, CA—The Los Angeles D-Fenders grabbed their first win at the Toyota Sports Center against the Idaho Stampede, 123-112. The Toyota Sports Center held a full house with 300 fans at tonight’s game.

The D-Fenders closed the first quarter with a 38-27 lead, with Gabe Pruitt leading the team with 10 points. Cedric Simmons of the Stampede carried his team with seven points.

Pruitt continued to lead the D-Fenders with 16 points and six rebounds, bringing them to a 13-point lead at the end of the first half, 67-54. Anthony Tolliver of the Stampede led the team with 12 points, while Mildon Ambres added in 10 rebounds. At the close of the half the D-Fenders shot 62.8% from the field, nearly doubling the Idaho’s 37.3%.

The Stampede outscored the D-Fenders 31-29 in the third quarter, but Los Angeles maintained the lead with 96-85 to end the third quarter. Tolliver posted 28 points to carry the Stampede, while D-Fenders Gabe Pruitt led his team with 22 points and eight rebounds at the end of the third quarter.

Idaho made a run in the fourth quarter, bringing the score to only a three-point difference. Anthony Tolliver led the Stampede with a game-high 28 points. D-Fenders’ Gabe Pruitt carried his team with 26 points and nine rebounds to finish the game.

“I think we played well together as a team the majority of the game. If we can keep that concentration for 48 minutes then we’ll be alright. Plus, it feels really good at home. We go to war here every day and had a good time,” said D-Fenders player, Ryan Forehan-Kelly.
