A Q&A with assistant coach Chucky Brown
Time Out With C.B.
What are your feelings on the Lakers being the first franchise to own their very own D-league team? “I think it’s great! I feel like teams will end up following the Lakers because if a team sees that it’s working then they will follow suit. The Lakers have always been a franchise that hasn’t been afraid to take chances and they have proven it again.” What makes the D-League stand out more than other leagues available to players such as the CBA or overseas? “It is the official development league of the NBA. NBA scouts will be at every one of their games and it is their ultimate chance to make some noise. This league gives players the opportunity to show NBA personnel what they can do. This league is more than people just looking at stat sheets after games. These are affiliated teams.” Have the D-Fenders set any specific goals this season? “Whenever you are in a league, your ultimate goal always has to be to win a championship. We want to win it all this year.”
