Six players scored in double figures as the D-Fenders defeated the Warriors 121-113 at home Saturday night. Terrence Williams scored 29, while Shawne Williams added 28.
Trailing 80-71 with 5:13 left in the third, the D-Fenders reeled off an 18-4 run to close the quarter. Santa Cruz never regained the lead as Los Angeles was in front the entire fourth quarter towards their ninth win in the last 11 games.
PLAYER OF THE GAME
No. 8 prospect, Terrence Williams, scored a game-high 29 points, to go along with five assists and three boards off the bench. He made 10 of 19 field goals, 3 of 6 three-pointers and 6 of 7 free throws.
No. 5 prospect, Shawne Williams, registered 28 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four blocks. He shot 9 for 18 from the floor, including 3 for 9 on three’s and 7 for 7 from the free-throw line.
STAT OF THE GAME
After allowing 65 points on 45.9 percent field goals in the first half, the D-Fenders limited Santa Cruz to just 48 points and 35.6 percent in the third and fourth quarters.
“Our activity was better (in the second half),” D-Fenders coach Bob MacKinnon said. “Our energy and activity was better and when we’re active and energized, we’re pretty good defensively.
