D-Fenders vs. Warriors Postgame Report 03/22/14

Brandon Costner finished with 38 points and 14 rebounds and powered the D-Fenders to a 140-121 win over Santa Cruz on Saturday. Top prospect Terrence Williams had 15 points and 13 assists and Shawne Williams added 20 points, seven rebounds and four blocks.

KEY MOMENT
The D-Fenders got off to a hot start to open the game, leading 42-22 at the end of the first quarter behind 17 of 29 field goals and 7 of 14 three-pointers. They pushed their lead to as much as 32 points late in the third quarter, but the Warriors cut it to 131-121 with 2:12 left. L.A., however, scored the final nine points of the game to come away with their fifth win in the last six games.

PLAYER OF THE GAME
Brandon Costner. The North Carolina State product finished with a season-high 38 points, to go along with 14 rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks. He made 12 of 19 field goals, 7 of 10 three-pointers and 7 of 8 free throws in what was his best effort of the season.

PROSPECT PERFORMANCE WATCH
No. 6 prospect, Shawne Williams, tallied 20 points, seven rebounds, four blocks and three steals. He shot 4 of 11 from the floor, including 3 of 7 on three-pointers, plus 9 of 12 free throws.

No. 8 prospect, Terrence Williams, posted his second straight double-double – fourth in the last five games – with 15 points (7 of 14 field goals) and 13 assists, plus three rebounds and two steals.

STAT OF THE GAME
The D-Fenders finished with 34 assists on 48 made field goals, and just eight turnovers on the night. Four players – Costner, Josh Magette, C.J. Williams and Terrence Williams – all finished with at least five dimes.
