Manny Harris scored 29 points but the D-Fenders fell short to the Legends 121-103 on the road Thursday night. Terrence Williams added 18 points, while Xavier Henry scored 15 on assignment.
Tied at 85 with 1:19 in the third quarter, Texas went on a 17-0 run that stretched until the 7:54 mark of the fourth. The D-Fenders never got closer than 12 points the rest of the way. During that span, L.A. missed 11 consecutive shots.
LAKERS ASSIGNMENT PLAYER IN ACTION
Xavier Henry recorded 15 points, three rebounds and four steals in 23 minutes on a rehab assignment. It was his first game action since injuring his knee in the Lakers-Sixers game on Dec. 29 at STAPLES Center.
PLAYERS OF THE GAME
Bernard James and Jae Crowder. On assignment from the Dallas Mavericks, both James and Crowder put up huge lines to help lead Texas to victory. James scored 38 points (18 of 20 field goals), grabbed 18 rebounds and blocked four shots, dominating the inside on both ends of the floor. Crowder, meanwhile, registered a triple-double with 23 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists.
PROSPECT PERFORMANCE WATCH
No. 1 prospect, Manny Harris, scored a team-high 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds in 39 minutes. He shot just 9 for 21 from the floor, but converted on all 10 of his free throws.
STAT OF THE GAME
Texas grabbed 67 rebounds, including 22 offensive boards. The Legends owned a plus-14 edge on the glass and also finished with a 27-11 edge in second-chance points.
