EL SEGUNDO, CA – The Los Angeles D-Fenders extended their win streak to nine-straight games heading into the 2012 All-Star Break after defeating the Idaho Stampede 121-102 at Toyota Sports Center on Wednesday night.
After jumping out to an 18-point first half lead, the D-Fenders never let the Stampede get closer than 15 points in the second half en route to a win that pushed their league-best record to 26-10..
Los Angeles stretched their lead early after Devin Ebanks erupted for 19 of his game-high 23 points (8-12 FG) in the first half. Courtney Fortson (22 points, 15 assists), who continued to help guide the D-Fenders offense for much of the second half, tied Jamaal Tinsley’s franchise record for assists in a game that was set on December 5th of this season.
Rounding out the D-Fenders in double-digits, Elijah Millsap dropped in 20 points to go with five rebounds, and Malcolm Thomas tallied 19 points (7-8 FG) along with eight rebounds in the win.
Meanwhile, the Stampede’s (14-20) Tony Bobbitt scored 16 points, Marcus Banks finished with 16 points and five assists, and Paul Carter added 15 points in the loss.
After defeating Idaho for the second straight time, Los Angeles evened the season series 2-2 with four games remaining between the teams.
The D-Fenders return to action on February 29th to begin a two-game series with the Stampede. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the game can be seen on NBA Futurecast.
