EL SEGUNDO – Courtney Fortson has signed with the Los Angeles Clippers making him the third Los Angeles D-Fenders player to receive a GATORADE Call-Up this season, it was announced today. Fortson becomes the sixth GATORADE Call-Up in D-Fenders history as well as the 15th NBA Development League player to join an NBA roster this season.

A member of the Clippers 2011-12 training camp roster, Fortson, a 5-11 point guard out of Arkansas, averaged 15.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.2 steals in 17 games (9 starts) for the D-Fenders. Fortson posted similar numbers at Arkansas, averaging 16.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.2 steals in 47 games for the Razorbacks.

Named to the SEC All-Freshman team in 2009, Fortson started at Arkansas as a true freshman, leading all freshman nationally in assists (5.9) while ranking 18th in the nation overall. What’s more, Fortson recorded the second triple-double (20 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists) (12/10/09 vs. NC Central) in school history and received Second All-SEC team honors (2010) his sophomore season. Fortson, who turned pro after two years in Fayetteville, was claimed by the D-League’s Reno Big Horns in 2010 before he joined the D-Fenders in 2011.
