Iowa Energy Acquire Anthony Tolliver

NEW YORK, Nov. 28, 2007 – The Iowa Energy today announced the acquisition of center Anthony Tolliver from the available player pool. Tolliver will be available for tonight’s game when the Energy hosts the Colorado 14ers at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.

“Anthony is a very intelligent and hardworking player,” said Energy head coach Nick Nurse. “He’s had experience playing for a great college coach at Creighton, which is just down the road from Des Moines, so we’ve been able to track him for a long time. We think he’s going to fit into our team really well.”

Tolliver was a member of the 2007-08 Cleveland Cavaliers preseason roster and appeared in three exhibition games, scoring six points and grabbing five rebounds in 20 minutes of action. A standout at Creighton, Tolliver finished his college career averaging 8.1 points and 4.9 rebounds over 124 games, including a career-best 13.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game during his 33-game senior season. During that season he earned All-MVC honors, having been the league’s only player to rank among the top 10 in scoring, rebounding and blocks.

The addition of Tolliver is the first roster move of the season for the Energy that counts towards the nine allowed by D-League rules. To make room for Tolliver, the Energy released forward Keith Gayden.
