Iowa Trades Center Jarrid Famous to Mad Ants

DES MOINES, IA January 5, 2012 – The 2011 NBA D-League Champion Iowa Energy have obtained a 2nd round selection in the 2012 NBA D-League draft from the Ft. Wayne Mad Ants in exchange for center Jarrid Famous.

With the acquisition of the 2nd round pick, the Energy now hold the rights to eight selections in the first four rounds of the next year’s draft.

“We were blessed to have four players who we felt good about at the center position, so this trade allows us to open up some playing time for players we feel can help us bring another title to Iowa,” said Energy GM Chris Makris. “We also add another early pick in the draft next year, which is nice to have in our back pocket.”

Famous, a 6’11” center, was drafted by the Energy in the 3rd round of the 2011 draft. He averaged 16.8 points and 11.0 rebounds in eight games with Iowa this season. Famous attended the Indiana Pacers training camp in December.

The Energy play their next four games on the road before returning to Des Moines for a game on Sunday, January 15th vs Tulsa. Game time is 4pm. For tickets, visit
