IOWA ENERGY DRAFT PARTY TO BE HELD THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD
Picks to be Made Live On-Site at Court Avenue Brewing Company

DES MOINES, IA, October 27, 2011 - The Iowa Energy will host its annual NBA Development League Draft party at Court Avenue Brewing Co. (309 Court Ave.) in downtown Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday, November 3rd. The draft will begin at 6 PM CST. Fans of all ages are welcome to attend as the Energy will select players live at the party via teleconference with the NBA.

Energy coaches, owners, staff and the High Voltage Dance team will be in attendance as well as prizes including merchandise, autographed gear, and VIP game experiences will be given away during the evening’s festivities. Food and drink specials will be available beginning at 4 PM.

Iowa has no 1st round pick after trading it to Bakersfield last season. The Energy have two 2nd round picks (26 & 27 overall) after obtaining a selection from the Texas Legends via Bakersfield. The Energy also obtained a 4th round pick from Ft. Wayne last year. A full list of Energy draft picks are below:

  • The draft is “serpentine” order, meaning that the order will be reversed after each round. For example, the Los Angeles D-Fenders will select first overall and then their next selection will be 32nd overall. The Austin Toros will select second overall and then their next selection will be 31st overall.

    Following the D-Fenders and Toros the draft will go in the following order: Maine Red Claws, Sioux Falls Skyforce, Texas Legends, Bakersfield Jam (acquired from Iowa Energy), Erie BayHawks, Bakersfield Jam, Erie BayHawks (acquired from Idaho Stampede), Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Tulsa 66ers, Dakota Wizards, Bakersfield Jam (acquired from Reno Bighorns), Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Canton Charge, and the Tulsa 66ers (acquired from Springfield Armor).

    Each of the NBA D-League’s 16 teams will be given one pick in each round. No trades will be permitted during the draft and only players signed to an NBA D-League Standard Player Contract are eligible to be selected.

    Prior to the draft, a full list of players returning to the Energy will be released to the public.

    Iowa Energy season tickets are now on sale for the 2011-12 season. Single-game tickets will go on sale on Friday, Nov. 4, at 10 AM.
