Chicago Bulls Assign Shannon Brown and Cedric Simmons To Iowa Energy

NEW YORK, NY – March 15, 2008 – The Chicago Bulls today announced that Shannon Brown and Cedric Simmons have been assigned to their D-League affiliate Iowa Energy. Brown and Simmons each previously spent time in the D-League with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on assignments from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Chicago also announced that Demetris Nichols has been recalled from Iowa.

Brown has appeared in four games with the Bulls this season following his Feb. 21 acquisition. On the season, Brown is averaging 6.0 points and 1.0 rebounds in 19 appearances with Cleveland and Chicago. During his first stay in the D-League this season, Brown, a guard from Michigan State, averaged 20.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 39.2 minutes in five games with Rio Grande Valley.

The forward from North Carolina State, Simmons, 6-9, 235, has played in 11 NBA games this season, including four with the Bulls since being acquired by Chicago on Feb. 21. During his time in the D-League this season, Simmons averaged 9.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 28.6 minutes in three games as a Viper.

Nichols has played in 14 games with the Energy this season during two assignments from the Bulls and holds D-League averages of 19.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks in 37.6 minutes. Since being acquired by Chicago on Dec. 7, 2007, Nichols has appeared in four games for the Bulls. He has also spent time this season in New York and Cleveland.

Brown and Simmons are scheduled to be available for Iowa’s next game on Tuesday, March 18, when the team travels to face the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
