BOISE, ID, Jan. 8, 2010 –After finishing the NBA D-League Showcase on Thursday night, the Austin Toros faced the Idaho Stampede in Boise. Idaho finished the night with a win, 131 to 110 over the Austin Toros.

Both teams came out strong in the first quarter in a head to head battle with seven lead changes. Austin made 12 out of 14 free throws and Alonzo Gee scored nine points. Cedric Simmons led the quarter with 11 points for the Stampede.

“I thought in the first half, the bench came off hard with energy and proficiency, said Coach Bob McKinnon. “This definitely enabled us to take the lead going into the second quarter. The team overall played hard and together.”

Donell Taylor playing in his third game of the season scored 24 points. Two Stampede players delivered double-doubles including Anthony Tolliver with 21 points and 11 rebounds and Yemi Ogunoye with his first of the season, scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Austin’s Curtis Jerrells had a game high 25 points. Four other Toros scored in double-figures including Alonzo Gee with 24, Dwayne Jones with 24, Justin Bowen with 18 and Eddie Basden with 12.

The Toros will get another chance to split the series as Austin and Idaho battle it out again tomorrow, Saturday, January 9th in Boise.
