STAMPEDE BENCH LIFTS TEAM TO SECOND HOME VICTORY OVER RENO BIGHORNS

BOISE, Idaho (November 30, 2009) – Idaho’s Anthony Tolliver scored 30 points as the Idaho Stampede defeated the Bighorns 123-104 to compete a two-game sweep at Quest Arena in Boise, ID tonight.

The Stampede bench out scored Reno’s 57-6, as five Idaho players scored in double figures. Reno was led by Rod Benson’s 28-point 12-rebound double-double and Russell Robison’s 21 points. Idaho connected on 10-of-27 from downtown, while the Bighorns shot just 1 of 7 from behind the three-point line.

Idaho (2-0) trailed Reno (0-2) by 9 at the end of the first quarter and by as many as 13 in the half. The effort was led by Sundiata Gaines’ 15-point second period. The Stampede took the lead with just over two minutes to play in the second, and never looked back - at the half Idaho owned a 5 point led, 65-60.

“I was pleased with the way we started after a slow start,” said Bob MacKinnon, Stampede Head Coach. “I have to give credit to Jay (Humphries), they got the jump on us, but we have some tough minded guys and finished the game the right way.”

Idaho out scored Reno 31-16 in the third period and stretched it to as many as 29 in the fourth before settling for the 19-point victory.

The Stampede return to action on Wednesday December 4, when the team hosts the Dakota Wizards, while Reno travels to take on the L.A. D-Fenders that same day.
