Sonics Sign Guard Randy Livingston
SEATTLE, Wednesday, April 11, 2007 – Sonics General Manager Rick Sund announced today that the team has signed Randy Livingston to a remainder-of-season contract. The 6-4 guard is currently playing with the Idaho Stampede, Seattle’s affiliate in the NBA Development League, where he has averaged 12.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and a league-best 10.6 assists per game in 46 games.
“Injuries have left us with a substantial hole in our guard rotation and we were fortunate to find a guy out there like Randy who has some NBA experience,” Sund said. “The D-League has become great resource, both for the teams in the NBA and players like Randy, who are able to remain in the game and continue to improve.”
The signing marks Livingston’s second stint with the Sonics. He originally joined the team on a 10-day contract on March 8, 2002 and was later re-signed for the remainder of the 2001-02 season. Livingston appeared in 13 games for the Sonics, averaging 3.2 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
An LSU alum, Livingston was originally drafted by the Houston Rockets with the 42nd overall selection in the 1996 NBA Draft. A 10-year NBA veteran, Livingston has appeared in 199 career NBA games with nine teams, averaging 3.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
