Idaho snaps road skid in Reno with 103-92 win

BOISE, Idaho, February 9, 2014 –The Idaho Stampede defeated the Reno Bighorns 103-92 for their second win of the season against their division rivals. The win snaps Idaho’s seven game losing streak away from home.

Idaho used a 12-0 run in the first quarter to take a 28-20 advantage. Stampede guard Dee Bost dished out seven assists in the quarter to pace the offense. Reno answered in the second quarter by shooting 47 percent and holding Idaho to only 33 percent. Despite the slow second period, the Stampede led 46-41 at the half. KC Rivers led the Bighorns with 10 points off the bench while Stampede forward Derrick Caracter led all scorers with 12 points at the break.

After a slow first half, Idaho guard Pierre Jackson scored 13 points in the third quarter to push the Stampede’s lead to 74-68. The Stampede led by as much as 15 in the quarter but Bryan Davis provided Reno with 10 points off the bench to keep the Bighorns within reach. Tyrell Biggs made a jumper to bring Reno within four points in the fourth quarter, but the Stampede were able to pull away and take the 103-92 victory.

Pierre Jackson led all scorers with 28 points, 19 of them coming in the second half. Dee Bost added 15 points and 16 assists for his sixth double-double of the season. Derrick Caracter (15 points) and EJ Singler (14 points) provided the team with help off the bench. Singler shot 4-4 from the field in the second half including three 3-pointers.

Mo Charlo led Reno with 19 points and seven rebounds. Bryan Davis scored 18 of the Bighorns’ 48 points in the paint. KC Rivers (15 points) and DeQuan Jones (16 points) also contributed in the losing effort.
