Idaho defeated by Bakersfield

Boise, Idaho, March 26, 2014 – The Idaho Stampede fell to the Bakersfield Jam Wednesday night at CenturyLink Arena. The Stampede shot just 33 percent from the field compared to the Jam’s 48 percent. Both teams remain in the playoff hunt with the season winding down.

After three lead changes in the first quarter, Bakersfield took a 25-21 advantage into the second. Jeremy Wise scored seven points off the bench for the Jam as 16 of their 29 second quarter points came from the reserves. Idaho guard Vander Blue scored nine points in the second to keep Idaho in the game, but Bakersfield led 54-41 at the half.

Bakersfield pushed their third quarter lead to 16 before Idaho’s Kevin Murphy brought the deficit down to six points with 3:52 left in the third quarter. But the fourth period belonged to the Jam as they held a double-digit lead until the final buzzer.

Kevin Murphy led all scorers with 20 points for the Stampede (23-22). Vander Blue pitched in with 17 points off the bench. Dee Bost filled up the box score with 14 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

Ike Diogu (17 points and 10 rebounds) led the way for the Jam (21-24) with his 13th consecutive double-double. Jeremy Wise provided a spark off the bench and finished the game with 14 points.

Bakersfield will host Los Angeles on Friday, March 28 while Idaho will host the Reno Bighorns in a pivotal back-to-back this weekend in Boise.
