“HP 3.0 Program” saw local middle school students win HP products

BOISE, Idaho, July 25, 2012 – Although the Stampede season has not begun yet, the team is making an impact in the Treasure Valley with the "HP 3.0 Program."

Through the HP 3.0 Program, the Idaho Stampede is rewarding area middle school students for showing their passion and ability in math and science, improving their grades and attending every class. The HP 3.0- Program concluded today, with Meridian Middle School and West Junior High (Boise) winning HP laptops, printers and calculators. The HP laptops were each outfitted with laser-etched Stampede logos.

Over 1,000 students took part in the program during the 2011-12 academic year and summer school, with grades seeing a steady rise throughout the year.

“We appreciate the passion area students have about math and science, as well as HP for rewarding these kids for their hard work,” Brandes said. “We hope to continue to show the students of the Treasure Valley that their efforts do not go unnoticed.”

As part of the HP 3.0 Program, presentations were made at both Meridian Middle School and West Junior High (Boise). Brandes and Stampede mascot, Rumble, attended the proceedings, along with HP's Patrick Hunter.

Earlier in the year and summer, Lone Star Middle School (Nampa), Galileo Math and Science Magnet School, and South Junior High School (Boise) participated, as well as the Nampa School District’s summer school session.

“Programs that inspire kids to get excited about math and science are foundational to fostering innovation and creating the technology leaders of tomorrow,” said Patrick Hunter, Strategic Engagement Manager, HP. “We believe in giving back to the community, in particular area youth, and the HP 3.0 Program in partnership with the Stampede has been an effective way to increase kids’ engagement and success in these critical subject areas.”
