Lance Allred Earns GATORADE Call-Up To Cleveland Cavaliers
NEW YORK, Mar. 13, 2008 – Idaho Stampede forward Lance Allred today earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is scheduled to join the Cavaliers when the team travels to face the Washington Wizards in a game that will be telecast on TNT tonight at 8pm ET.
Allred (6-11, 250) played in 38 games for the D-League’s Idaho Stampede, which currently sits atop the league’s Western Division, and averaged 16.2 points and 10.0 rebounds, fourth best in the D-League, in 29.6 minutes, while shooting .512 (234-457) from the field.
The 18th GATORADE Call-Up this season, Allred started all 38 games for Idaho and contributed to the Stampede’s record-setting 18-game winning streak (Dec. 19-Feb. 8) with 10 double-doubles (points/rebounds). A 2008 All-Star, Allred won the inaugural H.O.R.S.E competition at the D-League’s Dream Factory Friday Night during NBA All-Star festivities. Last season, he played in 43 games for the Stampede and averaged 10.1 points and 5.7 rebounds.
The 27-year old Missoula, Montana native participated in the 2005 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, and played with the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2005 Reebok Vegas Summer League, before playing overseas in Spain, France and Puerto Rico. In July 2007, Allred suited up for the Boston Celtics in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
Allred split his college career between two seasons at the University of Utah (2000-2002) and two seasons at Weber State (2003-2005). During his senior season at Weber State, he averaged 17.7 points and 12.0 rebounds.
