BOISE, Idaho, January 2, 2009 - The Idaho Stampede started the New Year right by defeating the first place Bakersfield Jam 100-77 in Boise on Friday night. Idaho improves to 10-4 on the season and remain undefeated at home, while Bakersfield is now 10-5.
Idaho utilized outstanding offensive performances from Lance Allred and Luke Jackson, in a game which they would never trail. Allred finished the game with his fifth double-double of the season, scoring 15 of his 23 points in the first quarter and grabbing 10 rebounds. Jackson also scored 23 points, dished out eight assists, and pulled down 8 rebounds.
Bakersfield finished with six players scoring in double figures, but were held to 39.5% (32-81) shooting from the field and 26.7% (4-15) shooting from beyond the three point line. The Stampede shot extremely well the entire game, going 51.9% (41-79) from the field and 50% (7-14) three pointers.
“Great overall team effort. I loved our three-headed point guard that we had tonight, in Lanny, Coby, and Jamaal,” said Stampede Head Coach Bryan Gates. “They had an excellent tempo and kept the pace up. It was great to watch Lance and Jermareo own the paint, which was what we had to do to win the game.”
Stampede forward Jermareo Davidson finished the game with his league leading ninth double-double of the season, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Jamaal Tatum and Coby Karl added 12 points apiece, in the win.
Idaho will face-off with the Austin Toros for a Saturday night matchup in Boise. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 pm. Bakersfield heads to the 2009 NBA D-League Showcase in Orem, Utah where they will go up against the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Monday.
