IOWA ENERGY DEFEAT BAKERSFIELD IN FIRST SHOWCASE GAME
RENO -- The Iowa Energy defeated the Bakersfield Jam in the teamís first game of the 2014 NBA D-League Showcase in Reno.
The Energy fell behind early as the Jam jumped out to an 11-2 run to start the game and trailed 29-21 after the first quarter.
The Energy trailed by 13 early in the second before they went on a 16-3 run to tie the game at 37. The Energy shot 17-of-24 in the quarter, scoring 42 points and took a 63-54 lead into the half.
Bakersfield began the second half on a 11-2 run to tie the game up at 65. Minnesota Timberwolves assignee Shabazz Muhammad led Iowa in the third, scoring 12 of his team high 24 points in the quarter. The Energy put up 44 in the third and led the Jam 107-88 after three quarters.
Bakersfield hung around in the final quarter, but Iowa came away with the 133-121 victory. The Energy improve to 11-5 on the year, while Bakersfield falls to 9-10.
The Jam were led by Utah Jazz assignee Ian Clark, who finished with 23 points. Ike Diogu had 20 points and six rebounds off the bench. Rudy Gobert, another assignee by the Jazz, finished with 11 points and 12 boards.
Muhammad led the Energy with 24 points. He also added seven rebounds. Chris Allen, Othyus Jeffers, and Larry Owens each had 19 points. Chicago Bulls assignee Marquis Teague added 15 points and nine assists.
