Toros Knock Off 66ers

CEDAR PARK, TX -- Justin Dentmon led all scorers with 27 points and Terrence Woodbury added 20 points to lead the Austin Toros (3-1) to victory over the Tulsa 66ers (4-2) Wednesday night at Cedar Park Center. The two teams are familiar with one another after playing three straight games against each other this young season. Austin leads the series 2-1.

The Toros overcame a 58-45 rebounding advantage by Tulsa thanks to a stifling defense that caused 27 turnovers by the 66ers. The Toros only turned the ball over 17 times. Turnovers would prove to be the difference in the second half, as Austin pulled away and never looked back.

Austin's offense was supplied by guards Justin Dentmon and Terrence Woodbury all night. They were the only two Toros players to score in the second quarter, however Austin trailed by only one point, 45-44, at the half. Squeaky Johnson posted 13 points and a team high 6 assists, and Lance Thomas supplied 11 points and 11 rebounds for his second double-double this season.

The starting frontline was a bright spot for Tulsa. They overwhelmingly won the points in the paint battle, 54-36, and all finished with double-doubles. Forward Marcus Lewis, who had a double-double at halftime, finished with 14 points and 18 rebounds. Curtis Sumpter posted 11 points and 10 rebounds and Ryan Reid tallied 12 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Jerome Dyson led all 66ers in scoring with 18 points.
