SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TEXAS, Jan. 13, 2011 – To a man, the members of the Reno Bighorns pull for each other. So much so, that in the early stages of Reno’s game against Sioux Falls, a referee had to instruct players on the bench to remain in their seats, as per NBA D-League rules.

Reno’s play matched its enthusiasm, with seven players scoring at least nine points, led by Anthony Richardson, who finished with a team-high 23 points as Reno defeated the SkyForce 117-93.

“I had a pretty good game tonight, had some open looks and knocked them down, but it’s really about the team,” said Richardson, who went undrafted out of Florida State in 2005 and has played professionally in Europe. “We really played as a unit, we played good team defense, and we closed them out early.”

Jeremy Lin, on assignment from the Golden State Warriors, finished with 22 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals. He really lived up to his billing this week, showing an advanced feel for the game, solid athleticism and an unflappable demeanor on the court, earning rave reviews from his Reno teammates.

“He’s a great guy to play with, and also a great guy to be around off the court,” said Richardson. “He’s obviously a terrific player, but he really makes it a point to fit in with the guys.”

Marcus Landry, the runner-up in last night’s Three-Point Contest, shot 3-for-6 from behind the arc for the Bighorns, finishing with 13 points.

Maureece Rice led Sioux Falls with 21 points. David Bailey added 16 points and eight assists. The SkyForce committed 24 turnovers, compared to only 12 for Reno.

Both teams are in action again Saturday, with Reno hosting Texas, and Sioux Falls hosting Bakersfield.
