TULSA, OK, March 28, 2010 – The Albuquerque Thunderbirds came up short on Sunday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma, losing to the 66ers, 100-84. Keith McLeod led the way for Albuquerque with 30 points and 9 rebounds.
Shane Edwards added 21 points and 8 rebounds for the T-Birds. Trey Gilder chipped in 11 points for Albuquerque.
The 66ers led 51-32 at the half. Albuquerque battled back in the third quarter, and trailed by 11 (72-61) heading into the fourth.
The T-Birds cut the lead to seven with 2:15 to play in the game on a layup from Keith McLeod. Those were the last points that Albuquerque would score, however, as Tulsa closed the game on a 9-0 run to notch the 16 point win.
Larry Owens led the way for Tulsa with 25 points.
Albuquerque shot 44.3% from the field for the game. Tulsa connected on 45.2% of its shots.
The loss is Albuquerque’s eighth straight.
Albuquerque will be in action next Friday when the team travels to Reno to take on the Bighorns.
