T-Birds Come Up Short Against Mad Ants

FORT WAYNE, IN, March 21, 2010 – Shane Edwards scored a career high 27 points for Albuquerque, but the T-Birds were unable to knock off the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Sunday, losing 117-105. Edwards also recorded a game high 12 rebounds. Keith McLeod scored 22 points for Albuquerque, which lost its sixth straight game. Antoine Agudio added 18 for the T-Birds. Trey Gilder also scored in double figures for Albuquerque, notching 15 points. Albuquerque led by one at the end of the first quarter, and the game was close throughout the first half. Fort Wayne led 55-50 at intermission Albuquerque trailed by 15 with 6:06 remaining in the game, but the T-Birds went on a 9 – 1 run over the next three minutes to trim the lead to 7. Unfortunately for the Thunderbirds, that was as close as they would get, as Fort Wayne pulled away for the 12 point win. Oliver Lafayette scored 14 of Fort Wayne’s 32 points in the fourth quarter. Lafayette led all scorers with 30 points for Fort Wayne. Sean Sonderleiter added 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Mad Ants. The game featured eight ties and 12 lead changes. Both teams shot well from the field, with Albuquerque (51.9%) and Fort Wayne (53.4%) both shooting over 50% for the game. Albuquerque will have a chance to bounce back when it travels to Tulsa, Oklahoma on Friday to take on the 66ers. |
