Fort Wayne, IN (February 20, 2010)- The Mad Ants completed the best game of their season to defeat the Erie BayHawks 105-84 in front of 4,169 screaming fans at the Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, IN. The Mad Ants strong play resulted in seven players finishing in double figures.
The Mad Ants took control of the game early and outscored the BayHawks 33-18 in the first quarter. The home team was led by new starting point guard, Dan Dickau, who controlled the tempo early to get the Mad Ants off to a fast start. He distributed the ball well, and his starting teammates responded by shooting 56% for the quarter. The Ants unselfish play can best be demonstrated by the fact that the team had 11 assists for their 14 baskets.
The Mad Ants never looked back from there. The lead never got less than twelve the rest of the game, and Fort Wayne cruised to their most complete effort of the year. The home team was led by Dickau, who scored 17 points and had a game high 11 assists. Jared Reiner added 15 points, and Ron Howard chipped in 13 for the Ants.
For the Bayhawks, Cavaliers call-up Cedric Jackson led all scorers with 21 points and added 8 rebounds to go along with 8 assists. Ivan Harris demonstrated a smooth stroke throughout the game to chip in 19 points.
These two teams will go right back at it tomorrow evening at 5 pm ET at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
