BISMARCK, N.D. Nov. 29
– Led by the stellar play of Curtis Withers, the Dakota Wizards defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce 91-74 Sunday afternoon in a rematch of their earlier preseason game.
Withers, who scored 22 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for the game, had a strong first half, picking up a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds by halftime.
The Wizards never trailed in the game, though their largest lead of 21 in the third quarter dwindled to six when Reggie Williams stole and dunked an inbounds pass, putting the Skyforce down 76-70 with 6:15 left in the game.
The rest of the fourth quarter was all Wizards, however, culminating in the 17 point victory.
For the Wizards, Beck led the way, finishing with 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Aside from the double-double of Withers, no other Wizard finished with double-digits. Maurice Baker filled the box score with eight points, eight assists, six rebounds and six steals.
The Skyforce were able to stay in the game due to solid bench contributions, as rookie Raymond Sykes picked up a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and Leemire Goldwire chipped in another 16 points off the bench.
