SIOUX FALLS, S.D., April 4 – The Idaho Stampede outscored the Sioux Falls Skyforce 33-19 in the third quarter en route to a 106-94 win Saturday night at the Sioux Falls Arena. All five Stampede starters recorded double-digit points.
Sioux Falls (24-23) trailed by only one point at halftime despite the Stampede shooting 60 percent (24 of 40) from the field. Many of those shots came by way of Idaho guard Kevin Burleson, who recorded nine assists in the first half alone.
The Stampede (29-18) then exploded in the third quarter to earn a 17-point lead. The Skyforce pulled to within five in the fourth quarter but were unable to challenge for the lead as Idaho walked away with its first NBA D-league win at Sioux Falls.
“Winning on the road is tough and we just have to make sure everyone comes to play,” Stampede head coach Bryan Gates said. “I’m really proud of the ten strong we had but we definitely snuck out of here with a win against a very good basketball team.”
Roberto Bergersen and Lance Allred paced the Stampede with 19 points each. Allred also earned a double-double by adding 10 rebounds. Jason Ellis recorded a double-double of his own with 11 points and 10 rebounds while Burleson ended the night with 11 points and 12 assists.
Kasib Powell led the Skyforce with 24 points and Bobby Jones added 17. Keith Brumbaugh dished out a season-high five assists.
The Skyforce will travel to Bismarck, N.D. tomorrow to take on the Dakota Wizards in a 6 p.m. CT contest. The Stampede will host Bakersfield on Wednesday at 8 p.m. CT.
