Sioux Falls 119, Dakota 105
SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Jan. 10, 2009 - Bobby Jones scored 22 points to lead a balanced attack Saturday night as the Sioux Falls Skyforce avenged a loss one night earlier with a 119-105 victory over the Dakota Wizards at the Sioux Falls Arena.
One night after allowing Dakota's Blake Ahearn to score 40 points in a 113-107 loss, Sioux Falls placed six players in double figures and played better defense, holding Ahearn to 21 points and making 14 steals.
"We had guys step up to the challenge," Skyforce coach Nate Tibbetts said. "Carl Elliot started it, and Gary Ervin finished it. (Ervin) really didn't give Ahearn a
look all night."
Ervin scored a season-high 20 points and Glen McGowan added nine of his 19 in the last six minutes for the Skyforce (12-7), which shot 53 percent (47-of-89) from the field and committed just nine turnovers. Gary Forbes scored 18 points and Keith Brumbaugh added 15.
Renaldo Major scored 25 points, Maurice Baker had 23 and 10 assists and Richard Hendrix 15 points and 12 rebounds for Dakota (11-9), which shot 50 percent (36-of-72) and committed 17 turnovers.
The Skyforce host Utah on Tuesday. The Wizards host Utah on Thursday.
