Reno 93, Bakersfield 91
RENO, NV, Jan. 10 -- Donte Greene registered 26 points in his D-League debut and Patrick Ewing Jr. had a monster game with 20 points and 13 rebounds as the Reno Bighorns clipped the Bakersfield Jam, 93-91, on Saturday for their fourth straight triumph.
Greene, who became the first Sacramento Kings player to ever be assigned to the D-League, sank a pair of go-ahead free throws with just over two minutes remaining and then connected on a fadeaway jumper to put Reno up three. The former Syracuse standout finished the night shooting 9-of-16 from the floor and added five rebounds.
Antonio Meeking contributed 13 points and nine rebounds for the Bighorns, who after losing 11 straight have climbed their way out of last place in the West Division.
One of the key differences for the Bighorns was getting to the line. Reno shot and made twice as many free throws as Bakersfield.
Trey Johnson led the Jam with a game-high 29 points, while Derrick Byars recorded 26. The two combined to bury seven 3-pointers. The loss snapped Bakersfield's two-game winning streak.
Reno will seek its fifth straight victory when it hosts the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Sunday, while Bakersfield returns home for a clash with division-leading and defending-champion Idaho that same night.
