Flash Give Home Crowd Reason to Cheer

Utah 109, Anaheim 100

OREM, Utah, Jan. 6, 2009 -- Bill Walker recorded a team-high 26 points and the Utah Flash controlled momentum for most of the game as they demonstrated excellence in front of their home fans in a 109-100 triumph over the Anaheim Arsenal at the 2009 D-League Showcase on Tuesday at the McKay Events Center.

Five Flash players reached double figures in scoring, including Dontell Jefferson who posted 18 points and J.R. Giddens who had 16.

Kyrylo Fesenko, who was assigned to the Flash earlier on Tuesday, tallied 12 points and seven rebounds and James Lang, last year's Utah big man who was reaquired, added 13 points off the bench on 6-of-7 shooting.

“Having an interior presence with Fesenko and Lang is tremendous.” Flash head coach Brad Jones said. “When the guys know that they can throw the ball inside to a threat in the post, it makes our offense that much better. We ran our offense terrific today. We made the extra pass, and when we couldn’t, we attacked the rim, penetrated and created opportunities to make the extra pass.”

Anaheim was led by D-League Performer of the Week James White, who erupted for 31 points and drained all 13 of his free throw attempts. Noel Felix contributed 16 points and seven rebounds, while Marcus Campbell grabbed 11 rebounds.

Utah (7-8) will return to action in the Showcase on Thursday against the Los Angeles D-Fenders, while the Arsenal (5-10) will take on the Colorado 14ers that same day.
