Erie 87, Sioux Falls 81
SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Jan. 2, 2009 -- Erik Daniels posted game-highs in points (28) and rebounds (13) as the Erie BayHawks handed the host Sioux Falls Skyforce their second straight home loss for the first time in nearly two years with an 87-81 victory on Friday.
Both teams started out slow as Sioux Falls recorded season-lows in points scored in the first quarter (13) and points allowed in the first quarter (17). The Skyforce also had a season low for points in the first half (33).
Ivan Harris had a solid third quarter for the BayHawks, scoring 11 of his 15 points in the period. The Skyforce trailed by as many as 11 points in the third quarter, but battled back and trailed 64-58 heading into the fourth quarter.
Mike Cook added 14 points for Erie, while Cliff Clinkscales added a game-high nine assists for the BayHawks (9-5).
Sioux Falls (9-5) was led by Glen McGowan, who posted season-highs in points (27) and rebounds (11). Bobby Jones added 15 points and seven rebounds and Frank Williams was the only other Skyforce player to reach double figures with 10 points.
