Sims Scores Season-High 36 To Lift Energy Past Flash

Iowa 107, Utah 101

DES MOINES, Iowa, Dec. 28, 2008 - Courtney Sims erupted for a season-high 36 points and 16 rebounds Sunday as the Iowa Energy rallied for their third straight win, a 107-101 victory over the Utah Flash.

Sims made 13-of-18 shots and 10-of-11 free throws as he surpassed his previous high of 34 in a win at Fort Wayne on December 5. He had seven offensive boards as his total fell one shy of his season high at Sioux Falls on November 28.

Despite Sims' huge game, the Energy trailed, 77-76, entering the final period. Sims took over by scoring 13 points in the fourth quarter, including a follow shot and alley-oop dunk that gave Iowa the lead for good at 89-86 with 7:03 to play.

Othyus Jeffers had 17 points and 11 rebounds, Phoenix Suns assignee Alando Tucker scored 13 points and Curtis Stinson added 11 and 11 assists for the Energy, who improved their league-leading record to 7-1. Iowa is 4-0 at home.

Gavin Grant scored 21 points, Dontell Jefferson added 20 and nine rebounds and Boston Celtics assignee Bill Walker had 19 and eight for the Flash (5-6), who had a three-game winning streak snapped.
