Williams Scores 34, Leads Skyforce To Overtime Win Over Vipers

Sioux Falls 121, Rio Grande Valley 118 (OT)

HIDALGO, Texas, Dec. 11, 2008 - Frank Williams scored 29 of his 34 points after halftime Thursday to lead the Sioux Falls Skyforce to a 121-118 overtime win over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at Dodge Arena.

In a game that saw 13 ties and nine lead changes, Williams was nearly the goat as he had the ball stolen from him by Rio Grande Valley's Smush Parker with 6.6 seconds remaining in regulation.

Parker was fouled and split a pair of free throws with 4.6 seconds to go to give the Vipers a 105-103 lead, but Sioux Falls' Carl Elliot was fouled with three-tenths of a second to play and drained both free throws to send the game into overtime.

Two free throws by Williams gave the Skyforce a 118-115 advantage with 15 seconds left in overtime. Parker, who had 30 points and 12 assists, tried to inbound to Alpha Bangura for a potential game tying 3-pointer, but the pass was deflected and stolen, forcing the Vipers to foul.

Gary Forbes had 28 points and 12 rebounds, Bobby Jones added 26 and 16 and Elliot scored 22 points for the Skyforce, who owned a 56-39 advantage on the glass but committed 27 turnovers.

Bangura scored 22 points off the bench and Stanley Asumnu - starting for the injured Kendal Dartez - added 17 and 10 rebounds for the Vipers, who had 19 steals.

Sioux Falls (5-2) moved to 4-1 on the road, while Rio Grande Valley fell to 3-4 on its season-opening eight-game road trip, which concludes Sunday vs. Albuquerque.
