Anaheim 91, Los Angeles 85
FULLERTON, Calif. (Nov. 22, 2008) – Noel Felix posted 18 points to lead the Anaheim Arsenal to a 91-85 preseason victory over the Los Angeles D-Fenders at Hope International University on Saturday.
Anaheim jumped out to an early 14-0 lead, which it barely clung onto after being outscored 27 to 15 in the third quarter. The D-Fenders tied the game on several occasions in the fourth, but the Arsenal never fully relinquished the lead.
“We’re still getting familiar with each other,” said Felix. “We have smart enough players to get everyone involved and we were able to do that early. It’s just a matter of staying strong throughout the game.”
Curtis Terry had 13 points off the bench to lead Los Angeles.
“We were getting the jitters out during the first half,” said D-Fenders Head Coach Dan Panaggio of his team’s first exhibition game. “We turned up the level of aggression in the third quarter and started getting fast break opportunities.”
It was the second preseason win over a Western Division rival for Anaheim, which beat the Bakersfield Jam on Thursday.
The Arsenal will open the regular season on November 29 on the road against the Idaho Stampede, before returning to Orange County for their home opener against the Reno Bighorns on December 3.
