Skyforce Eliminates Defending Champion Wizards on Home Floor
Sioux Falls 101, Dakota 89

BISMARCK, N.D., April 15 - The Sioux Falls Skyforce eliminated the D-League defending champion Dakota Wizards from the playoffs with a 101-89 victory, riding 29 points from David Bailey.

Glen McGowan had 21 points and 11 rebounds and Chris Alexander added 18 and 14 for the Skyforce, who won here for the fourth time in six visits this season. They advanced to another road game against Austin on Saturday.

"A lot of people doubted us. It’s us against the world," Bailey said. "We live to see another day."

McGowan had consecutive 3-pointers toward the end of a 14-0 third-quarter run that broke open a close game and gave Sioux Falls a 20-point lead.

"Glen can really play. That’s no secret," Sioux Falls coach Nate Tibbetts said.

Carlos Powell and Tony Gipson each scored 25 points for the Wizards, who overtook the Skyforce for the division title in the last week but struggled against them all season. Dakota won just three of 11 meetings with Sioux Falls during the campaign.

The Wizards were hampered by the intermittent absence of Rod Benson, the league's leading rebounder who was saddled with foul trouble. Benson had to sit down with his fourth foul early in the third quarter and the Skyforce leading, 52-46.

With Benson on the bench, Sioux Falls built the lead to 75-55 late in the third period and least by at least double digits for all but 13 seconds thereafter.

Benson finished with six points and 11 rebounds. Powell swept 12 boards.
