D-Fenders Lose to Arsenal in OT, Fall out of First Place Tie

ANAHEIM, Calif., April 5 - Will Blalock made two free throws with 4.3 seconds left in overtime to lift the Anaheim Arsenal to a 109-106 victory over the Los Angeles D-Fenders, who fell out of a first-place tie in the West Division. Los Angeles (32-15) is one-half game behind Idaho (32-14). The division winner receives a first-round bye in the D-League playoffs and home-court advantage throughout the postseason. Blalock's free throws gave the Arsenal a 107-106 lead. Sean Banks committed a turnover for Los Angeles and Marcus Campbell sank two from the line for a three-point bulge with 0.9 seconds to go. Brandon Wallace missed a shot at the buzzer for the D-Fenders Mo Charlo scored 21 points and Marcus Campbell had 20 points and 23 rebounds for Anaheim (21-27), which squandered a five-point lead late in regulation but recovered in overtime. The Arsenal went 14-11 at home this season. Banks scored 38 points and Jelani McCoy added 18 and 13 rebounds for the D-Fenders, who had a two-game winning streak snapped and finish up with two of their last three games on the road. |
