TULSA, Okla., March 14 - Adam Harrington scored 36 points and the Tulsa 66ers survived squandering an 18-point lead and 44 points by Desmon Farmer for a 123-117 overtime victory over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Friday at Expo Square Pavilion.
Before fouling out, Harrington sank 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions in overtime to give the 66ers a six-point lead.
Farmer set a franchise record for points. He was four points away from his career high, set last season as a member of the 66ers.
Tulsa led by three points in the final minute of regulation until Farmer's three-point play tied the game, 108-108. Rio Grande Valley had a chance to win it, but Trent Strickland’s runner in the lane fell short, forcing overtime.
The 66ers shot 80 percent from the field in the first quarter and opened a 43-27 lead. They allowed the advantage to slip to single digits just twice over the next two periods and held an 87-75 lead entering the fourth quarter.
RGV went on a 16-8 run to start the fourth quarter. The Vipers eventually took the lead with 2:53 remaining in regulation when Kris Collins for a 103-102 edge.
Chris Ellis had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Jason Fontenet scored 19 points for the 66ers (23-16), who have won three straight games.
Quannas White scored 15 points, Collins added 14 and Ivan Johnson 14 and 12 rebounds for the Vipers (15-26), who cannot finish at .500 in their first season as a D-League franchise.
