Toros Roll Past Vipers

HIDALGO, Texas, Feb. 8 -- San Antonio Spurs assignee Keith Langford led all scorers with 32 points as the Austin Toros rolled to a 108-95 win over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at Dodge Arena on Friday.

The Toros led by 15 at the half and never looked back, stretching the lead to 19 in the third quarter behind 11 points from Langford. DeMarr Johnson posted 13 of his 30 points in the second half for Southwest Division leader Austin.

Trent Strickland had 22 points for the Vipers, who have lost nine straight overall and five in-a-row on their home floor where they haven't won since Dec 14. The loss also was Rio Grande Valley's 12th straight against division opponents.

San Antonio assignee Ian Mahinmi finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Langford was 12-of-19 from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc. Four Toros finished in double figures.

Vipers leading scorer Desmon Farmer was held to only one field goal on four attempts for two points. Jesse Smith added 16 points and Kris Collins added 15 and four assists off the bench in the loss.

Rio Grande Valley continues its current five-game homestand on Saturday against fellow division foe Colorado. The Vipers trail the 14ers by seven games for the sixth and final spot in the D-League playoffs.
