Energy Outlast 14ers in Overtime
Iowa 121, Colorado 119 (OT)

DENVER, Feb. 1 – Dwayne Mitchell scored five of his 28 points in overtime Friday night, including the game-winning driving layup with 3.1 seconds left, as the Iowa Energy outlasted the Colorado 14ers, 121-119, for their third straight win.

After Mitchell's basket, Elton Brown - named D-League Player of the Month for January earlier in the day - misfired on a 17-foot turnaround jumper for Colorado (14-12).

"I think we played exceptionally well," Energy coach Nick Nurse said. "We've now won three in a row with some home games coming up, so maybe we can get back into the picture a little bit."

Iowa (12-15) controlled play early and built a 15-point third-quarter lead before Colorado mounted a comeback. The 14ers used a 30-14 run over the final 8:33 of the third period to take an 82-81 lead into the fourth period. Kaniel Dickens closed the quarter with a 40-footer.

The Energy scored the first six points of the fourth quarter and took a nine-point lead with three minutes to play. Dickens and Brian Greene countered by knocking down 3-pointers to pull the 14ers within two with 29 seconds remaining.

After Mike Efevberha missed a jumper, Colorado tied it with 2.2 seconds left when Doug Thomas was called for goaltending on Brown's jump hook in the lane.

Both teams had a chance to win in regulation, but Efevberha was called for an offensive foul and Eddie Gill's buzzer-beater fell short.

Efevberha and Anthony Tolliver scored 20 points apiece and Jeff Horner chipped in 19 for the Energy, who had all five starters in double figures.

Gill notched his second triple-double of the season with 25 points, 12 rebounds and 15 assists.  Brown scored 26 points for Colorado.
