Sioux Falls 94, Utah 90
SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Jan. 19 – The Sioux Falls Skyforce hung on to win their sixth straight game at home and first ever meeting with the Utah Flash 94-90 on Saturday night at the Sioux Falls Arena.
“For whatever reason, we’re playing with a lot of confidence at home right now,” said Skyforce coach Nate Tibbetts. “We need to get every one we can.”
After being down for most of the game, Utah (12-10) was able to keep it close enough to make a run late in the fourth quarter. The Flash took their first lead since late in the second quarter, 82-81, after an Andre Ingram 3-pointer with 4:04 left in the game. Sioux Falls (10-14) came right back and responded with an 8-0 run to put the game out of reach.
Kasib Powell led the way for the Skyforce with 26 points and nine rebounds. Elton Nesbitt also played well as he had 18 points and five steals, including a steal on the Flash’s final possession to seal the win.
“(Nesbitt) stepped up and made some huge plays at the end,” said Tibbets.
Kevin Kruger led Utah with 20 points, nine of those coming in the fourth quarter. Utah Jazz assignee Kyrylo Fesenko added 10 points, seven rebounds and six blocks for the Flash.
The Skyforce will wait a week to play their next game as they will travel to Albuquerque to play the Thunderbirds for an 8 p.m. CT game next Saturday. Utah will host the Anaheim Arsenal on Monday at 7 p.m. MT.
