Sioux Falls 103, Bakersfield 102
Bakersfield, Calif., Jan. 11-- The visiting Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Bakersfield Jam, 103-102, Friday night at Rabobank Arena before a crowd of 5,378, the second highest in team history.
Sioux Falls raced to an ealry lead, building a 16-point lead in the first half. Bakersfield bounced back, closing the gap to seven at the break, 60-53. The Skyforce maintained the lead the entire game until Bakersfield tied the contest for the first time at 96, on two Andre Barrett free throws with 2:52 left remaining.
Sioux Falls jumped back on top, taking a 103-100 advantage with 18.4 seconds to play on a Carl Elliott fadeaway jumper. James Peters of the Jam missed a potential game-tying three-point attempt that could have sent the game into overtime. On the ensuing play, the Skyforce's Scooter McFadgon drained a 22-footer at the buzzer, to preserve the one-point win for Sioux Falls.
Barrett led five Jam players in double figures with 27 points and eight assists. McFadgon finished with 23 points while shooting 8-13 from the field. Michael Cuffee, playing in his first game since being acquired in a trade from Utah, scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds off the bench.
Sioux Falls was led by guard Elton Nesbitt’s 23 points and 11 assists while Chris Alexander chipped in 22 points and eight rebounds and Elliott added 19.
Both teams now travel to Idaho to participate in the NBA Development League Showcase on January 14-17.
