Toros Defeat Tulsa In Second Of Three Straight Meetings

Austin, TX (December 28, 2007) - The Toros defeated Tulsa 113-87, completing a 2-game sweep of the back-to-back games at the Austin Convention Center. The teams will meet again Sunday in Tulsa- the 3rd game in 4 days between the teams.

After several roster moves, the Toros (9-4) entered the contest without leading scorers Darius Washington, Keith Langford & Marcus Williams.* DerMarr Johnson picked up the scoring slack with a season-high 27-points, including 4-4 from 3pt range. Justin Bowen tied a season-high with 19pts and Kris Lang scored 17pts on 8-11 shooting in his Toros debut. Carldell ‘Squeaky’ Johnson handed out a season-high 15 assists. Ian Mahinmi recorded another double-double, with 21pts and 13 rebounds. The Spurs assignee also blocked a season-high 4 shots.

The Toros led by 2pts after the 1st quarter. Then outscored Tulsa 39-26 in the 2nd quarter to lead by 15pts at the half. The Toros shot 60% for the game while Tulsa connected on just 34%. The Toros out-rebounded the 66ers 46-38.

Nick Fazekas, on assignment from the Dallas Mavericks, led the 66ers with 22pts. Tulsa (4-8) has lost 4 straight.

The Toros announced earlier today the acquisition of Kris Lang, 6-11, 247 pound center out of North Carolina. Kris Lang played in the Spurs summer league and recently returned from Moscow, Russia, where he played professionally.
