Sioux Falls 112, Colorado 108
SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Dec. 28 – Kasib Powell scored a team-high 28 points and Sioux Falls made a season-high 11 3-pointers as the Skyforce defeated the Southwest Division-leading Colorado 14ers, 112-108, on Friday.
“Right now we need (Kasib) to play great each and every night,” said Skyforce head coach Nate Tibbetts. “Not just at the offensive end but also at the defensive end and that’s where I am going to continue to challenge him.”
Sioux Falls led by six points at halftime, 59-53. The Skyforce controlled the third quarter and appeared to have the game on hand as they led 94-79 early in the fourth quarter.
The shorthanded 14ers, who were playing without leading scorer Kaniel Dickens and reserve Brian Greene, however, made one last push as they cut the lead to three points with under 30 seconds to go in the contest. Sioux Falls made 4-of-6 free throws down the stretch to hold off Colorado and secure the victory.
Elton Nesbitt recorded 23 points behind 5-of-11 shooting from downtown. Micheal Joiner and Carl Elliot also posted double figures in scoring for Sioux Falls, with 19 and 13 points, respectively.
Elton Brown had another solid game for Colorado, scoring 31 points grabbing seven rebounds. Eddie Gill recorded 21 points, as he connected on13 of 14 shots form the charity stripe.
Sioux Fall stravels to Fort Wayneto take on the Mad Ants Sunday night at 6 p.m. ET. Colorado visits Bismarck tomorrow night to take on the Dakota Wizards at 7 p.m. CT.
