Iowa Energy Downs Fort Wayne Mad Ants

Iowa 134, Fort Wayne 109

The Iowa Energy ended a two game losing streak to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants tonight by defeating the Ants 134-109. The two teams stayed close throughout the first quarter, with the Energy just outscoring the home team 29-26 after twelve minutes of play. Iowa took charge in the second quarter, led by a solid effort from Dwayne Mitchell, and outscored Fort Wayne 26-15. The teams headed into the locker room at halftime with the Energy leading 55-41.

After the break, Iowa continued to pull away from Fort Wayne, led again by Mitchell. The Energy also received assistance from JamesOn Curry, who finished the game with a team-high 22 points.

The Mad Ants’ Jeremy Richardson, who led all scorers with 23, and Cory Minnifield, who had 22 points and 10 rebounds, tried unsuccessfully to battle back in the final quarter. Even with their best efforts, the Mad Ants could not overcome the Energy’s hot shooting from beyond the 3-point arc, and Iowa’s fourteen 3-pointers helped them pull away to a 134-109 victory over the Mad Ants. Iowa moves to 5-3 with their win, while Fort Wayne drops to 3-3.
