Bobbitt Helps Colorado Beat Toros

AUSTIN, Texas, Mar. 1 -- Tony Bobbitt scored 24 points as the Colorado 14ers defeated the Austin Toros 101-88 on Thursday night at the Austin Convention Center. The Toros returned to the court for the first time since the death of head coach Dennis Johnson.

Johnson was honored before the game with a special tribute that included remarks from Toros team president Mike Berry and video presentation. Prior to the video presentation, Austin forward Jamar Smith placed a Toros jersey with the number three on the teamís bench over Johnsonís usual seat next to the team.

Austin had three players scoring in double figures including BJ Elder (26), Troy Bell (12) and Jamar Smith, who scored a team-high 24 points on 8-of-17 shooting and collected six rebounds. Colorado had six players scoring in double figures including Mike Harris (17), Rick Rickert (15) and Pooh Jeter added five assists to go with 14 points.

Coloradoís win snapped the Toros seven game home winning streak and improved the 14ers to 22-14 on the season. Austin, who had previously won nine of their last ten games, falls to 15-18.
