Big Fourth Lifts Flame Past Dazzle

ROANOKE, Va., Dec. 2 -- The Florida Flame waited until the fourth quarter to surge ahead of the Roanoke Dazzle and take a 109-99 victory.

The Florida trailed the Dazzle for most of the game, and was behind 82-78 at the end of the third quarter. But Bracey Wright scored 12 of his game-high 33 points in the final stanza to stake the Flame to a 15-point lead with less than a minute left in the game.

Flame Coach Jeff Malone was pleased that his team got the win, but was unhappy with the shot selection.

“We have to start making better shots," Malone said. "We shoot more airballs than any team I’ve ever seen.”

The Flame's top scorers shot well from the floor, with Wright sinking 11-of-17 and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and Theron Smith hitting 10-of-19 field goals for 24 points.

Hirum Fuller had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Andre Barrett chipped in with 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

After controlling most of the game, the Dazzle went cold in the fourth, scoring only 17 points on 7-of-21 shooting in the period.

Roanoke had a balanced scoring effort, with six players reaching double figures. Isiah Victor led the way with 23 points, and Kevin Owens recorded his first double-double of the season with 17 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.

Peter Ramos also had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, Anthony Grundy and Seth Doliboa each put up 13 points and Malik Moore chipped in 10 in defeat.

“I was pleased with some of the plays we made through the first three quarters," Dazzle Head Coach Kent Davison said. "We just stopped playing in the fourth.”
