GREENVILLE, S.C., Dec. 21 -- Despite being outscored 23-12 in the fourth quarter, the Greenville Groove put away the Columbus Riverdragons 80-77 Saturday night at the BI-LO Center.
Groove improved to 9-6, while Columbus fell to 6-7.
Billy Thomas was named the Greenville Groove player of the game. The Groove captain had 18 points, three rebounds, and four assists. In his 31 minutes, he went 7-for-18 from the field.
Thomas, Donald Hand (10 points) and Luis Fernando (10 points) all had double-digit scoring games for Greenville. Hand led the team in rebounds (nine), assists (seven) and steals (two).
Nate Johnson, the league's leading scorer, had 21 points and five rebounds for Columbus. Tang Hamilton contributed 17 points and Sean Daugherty had 10 points.
