Revelers Smash Dazzle


MOBILE, Ala, Dec. 20, 2001 – Jamario Moon scored a game high of 22 points, as the Mobile Revelers beat the Roanoke Dazzle, 100-82. This victory gives the Revelers their first win scoring 100 points, improving their record to 9-7 on the season. The Dazzles fall to 5-10.

The Revelers lead by three points at the half, shooting 46.2 percent from the field making 18 of their 19 shots, with seven being second-chance points. Anthony Johnson would lead the Revelers with 11 points. Starting the third quarter, Andre McCollum hit for three to tie the game 42 all. McCollum would go on the shoot another three to put the Dazzle up by one point, 44-45. Turning a hot hand, Moon went on a 9-point run for the Revelers to take the lead. The Revelers never looked back leading by as much as 19 points in the fourth quarter.

“The bench support was effective and gave the spark we needed going into the second half,” said Mobile Revelers Head Coach Sam Vincent.

Revelers hit 39 out of 69 field goals, shooting 56.5 percent from the field and gave up only 18 points from turnovers. Anthony Johnson would finish with 17 points and four steals, and Isaac Fontaine finished with 14 points.

“We displayed intensity and great effort for a full 40-minutes tonight, and I was really excited,” said Coach Vincent. “This was a good win for us.”

Plagued by turnovers, the Dazzle had 29 resulting in the Revelers scoring 50 points. Overall, they shot 46.4 percent from the field hitting 26 of the 56 shots taken. Thirty-eight of the 82 points were scored in the paint. Game high scorer for the Dazzle was Artie Griffin with 20 points and second was Thomas Hamilton scoring 10 points.

The Revelers go on to play the Columbus Riverdragons, while the Dazzle take on Fayetteville Patriots. Both teams will be at home on Saturday, December 22.
