Fantastic Finish Keeps Lowgators Unbeaten


GREENVILLE, S.C., Nov. 25 -- Galen Young hit an 8-foot shot in the paint with three seconds left in the game to give the North Charleston Lowgators a 76-75 victory over the Greenville Groove on Sunday night at the BI-LO Center.

The win keeps North Charleston undefeated at 5-0 heading into a Monday night game against the Fayetteville Patriots at the North Charleston Coliseum. Greenville falls to 2-4.

Leading 75-74, Greenville allowed the 24-second shot clock to expire, giving the ball back to the Lowgators with 11 seconds to play. Young, who finished with 16 points, hit the game-winning shot with three seconds to play.

Greenville led 41-33 at half after getting off to an 18-4 start in the first seven minutes of the game. North Charleston was 0-for-10 from 3-point range in the first half.

"We did not have any energy early in the game," North Charleston coach Alex English said. "I do not know if we can continue to get down like this every night, but the guys continued to play hard.

"I believe we are one of the toughest defensive squads in the league," English continued. "We have done a good job of pressuring the ball and that's where it started for us again tonight."

Chris Robinson had 18 points to lead North Charleston. B.J. McKie came off the bench to score 15 points and dish out six assists. Fred House chipped in 10 points to run his streak of scoring double figures to five straight games.

Eric Chenowith had 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead Greenville, followed by DeeAndre Hulett with 16 points and Ansu Sesay with 13 points.
